Mom's Cancer- Nancy Ehrhart

Donation protected
My name is Brock, and I am the only son of Nancy Ehrhart. Our family has quickly learned the truth behind the saying "when it rains, it pours". I am first going to attempt to explain who Nancy is (for those of you who do not know her), and then I will try and explain the situation that has befallen her (my medical knowledge is... nonexistent).

Throughout my life I was afforded the opportunity to watch someone that truly cared about other people, do just that. When I was a youngster, my mom would drag me down to MDA (Muscular Dystrophy Association) phone calling fund raisers, she had me participating in MDA advertisements, and I acted busy while she volunteered at the MDA events. When we moved from Iowa to Arizona she began her career as an Activity Director for elderly and retirement communities. In this position she has befriended an extraordinarily large amount of individuals (elderly and not!) and worked to create an atmosphere of energy and fun within those communities. Through this, and her volunteer work as an at-home Hospice Caregiver, I have met some incredible individuals with stories that have changed my perspective and my every day look on life. Most importantly though, through these connections and the relationships my mom has created throughout her life, she has shown me that caring for another human being is the most precious thing that we can offer another.

Since last Fall, my Mom has dealt with non-life threatening health issues that are ongoing. While waiting to have a knee replaced, she found a lump in her breast. A lumpectomy revealed cancer (Infiltrated Ductal Carcinoma). We sat down with a medical team to review the recommended procedure. A partial mastectomy may be possible, though a full is recommended. Followed by chemotherapy and radiation treatments. Unfortunately, her medical insurance plan doesn’t include surgical, hospital or cancer treatments of any kind.. which means $0.00 of insurance coverage. I think the doctors referred to it as "a plan that they had never seen before, and should be illegal to sell".

The surgeon recommended a medication that would slow the tumor growth until further financial options were found, but because of hormone levels they think that this route would be a waste of resources.

We truly have no idea as to what kind of medical expenses we are looking at. We know the cost will be astronomical. We are looking into every possible financial option that we can. And that’s where you come in.

Any donation you can make would mean the world to me. My mom has made me who I am today. She is a wonderful, caring, and considerate human being and I hope you will help me on this journey to destroy this disease, help her get back to making the world a more beautiful place. Trying do all that I can, because I simply do not know what I would do without my Mom.
