********Backstory********
A little bit about me:  I'm temporarily the "window warrior" in St. Louis - This story actually takes place in Kentucky and starts with a very special rescuer.

Val was on a mission today to pick up a family (Mama and babies) that we are planning to bring to St. Louis for fostering (I was going to meet halfway and bring the family to one of our local rescues).  Val made her way to the shelter today, and the conditions she walked into can only be described as horrifying.

**Warning Graphic Content**
On the floor lays the body of a dead kitten, who knows how long the poor thing had been there.

In the cages, she found the cats and kittens lying in their own feces and urine.  Their food supply un-consumable as it had become contaminated with feces and/or vomit.

In the photos, you can tell these cages have not been cleaned for some time.  Val did exactly what she was born to do, she started working on saving all of these babies.

There were 25 cats inside of the shelter. Four more were brought to be surrendered while Val was there. That's TWENTY FIVE cats in FOUR cages.

It looks as though they had the buff cat in a large travel crate. That still leaves 24 cats divided by four cages that aren't even large enough to hold a litter box and a bed.

29 cats and kittens in total have been transported to a shelter in Frankfort, KY - who can assist with vetting and temporary placement.

Before any of these babies can be put into foster care or put up for adoption, they will need to be vetted, tested, and made well again.

Sadly, this is not the first incident  with this shelter, these animals have suffered long enough  and it needs to stop.

Mama Cat:  Mama has both eyes, but they need to be removed as she had an infection that was left untreated for a long time.  Estimated cost for her surgery is around $300

Coach:  This little fella was hit by a bus and is going to need to have his leg amputated.  That's all we know for this little guy at the moment, more to come as we get more information.

How you can help:
 - Make a small donation to assist with their care
 - Share this campaign, you might help us find them homes or foster families.  For that, we would be eternally grateful.

All funds raised from this campaign will go to the care for the cats rescued, should there be any funds left over, they will be donated to Franklin County Humane Society in Frankfort, Kentucky.
