Melvin's Memorial Fund

Melvin Bautista Santos - loving son, brother, cousin, father, and friend. Anyone who knew Melvin, knew the kind of person he was - friendly, and polite, and went out of his way to help others. Most of all, you can just see the love he had for those he cared about most - his family. To them, he was a provider, a support system, and always there to put a smile on your face.

On July 25th, 2016, tragedy had struck his loved ones when they received the call no one ever wishes to receive. Melvin, only 24 years old, was fatally shot in his neighborhood by masked intruders - leaving behind his family, friends, and most of all his nine month old son, baby JB.

Maui is famously known throughout the world as a paradise. Locals feel the same way, and take pride in their community - often declaring "Maui No Ka Oi" (Maui is the best); however, they will also be the first to tell you that life on the island can be hard - thanks to the high costs of living brought upon by tourism and an isolated location. Melvin's family not only has to feel the pain associated with the loss of a loved one; they must worry about the incredibly high costs of the funeral.

We humbly ask you - as family members, residents of Maui, people who have lost a loved one, please help Melvin's family. No contribution is too small or too large, but is a sign of support and love that will strengthen a family and community.
