Amy Bailey is a very healthy, 39 year old mother who loves her children and life. That is not rare, but what is rare is the way the that Amy is loved back. To understand that is to understand what a great person Amy is. This has shown in the most generous outpouring of love, care, and concern she has recieved from the, probably, 200 visitors she's had in the first days.
Amy has a five year old daughter, Sydney, and a 12 year old step son Braeden. They are her heart and soul. She is also a daughter, sister, and best friend to so many! Here is Amy's story. This is where the story of a fighter begins.
On Wednesday July 20, 2016 she went to Norton's St. Matthews, with slurred speech and neck pain. Shortly after arriving she also suffered paralysis of the left side of her face. She was given a migraine cocktail and released.
Thursday July 21, 2016, Amy suffered a severe brain stem stroke on the right side of her brain stem. She was rushed to the hospital via ambulance and was written off by the doctors. They called the family, including her sweet five year old daughter and 12 year old step son into the quiet room to notify us she probably would not make it. They did not know the heart of young lady in that operating room that night. We did and we said #AmyWill. And she did. Then we were told in her first night in the ICU, she may not make it through the night. But we know Amy, of course #AmyWill. Then they told us, she'll never move. But we knew that #AmyWill. Last night in Norton's they said she was not progressing, and Amy spelled, with her eyes, "L-I-F-T" and lifted her leg. We knew when they told us she will not recover #AmyWill
We have since had her transferred to the Stroke Unit at Univeristy of Louisville. They are giving her a better prognosis and fighting chance to survive and recover. You can measure a lot of things in the medical field. You can not measure the heart and the fight of a soul. That's what the doctors have not factored into the equation, the fight of Amy, or they would know that #AmyWill
Sydney Jean Bailey needs her momma more than anything you can imagine. Amy and Braeden have grown so close it's like he is her own. These beautiful babies need Amy.
We have to make sure Amy is provided the best care in the world, not the care that insurance will allow. We have the perfect fighter in Amy. We have the enormous support staff for Amy. Now we are asking for your donations to allow us to have the money to help Amy recover.
For, this fight is not a fight until the towel is thrown in. It is not a fight until the doctors come in and call it. It is a fight until Amy walks out of that hospital 200 people strong. We will be there waiting because if there is one thing we all know....it is that #AmyWill
