We are overwhelmed by the love, support, and prayers for Derek Badgley, my dad.  Many have already asked how they could help and so I created this page. My dad has not been able to work since the first part of Decemeber and mom no longer has vacation/personal time to take but needs to be present at every doctor's visit and starting soon, chemotherapy. His last paycheck is this Thursday and I do not want finances to be a burden on them during this difficult time. The family is doing everything in our power to help but know it doesn't hurt to ask our loved ones for help as well. If you know my mom and dad, you know they are always the first ones to give the shirt of their back for anyone and want to give others opportunity to show their love and support.

In Decemeber dad had pneumonia that would not go away and after many rounds of antibiotics and x-rays the doctor found something and knew it wasn't good. If you keep up with them on facebook, you know he has been diagnosed with Stage 3 lung cancer. They are both incredibly positive and know that dad will fight this head on.  I will do my best to keep this up to date and thank you in advance for your help, love, and prayers,

Love Always,
The Badgleys (May and Grow Family too)

Here is the latest post from my mom,
Susan Badgley :
Update 1/20/16 - We met with the pulmonologist today. The cancer now has a name - Adenocarcinoma (large cell). It is inoperable, but will have a treatment plan (radiation and chemo). Genetic testing will be completed to determine the best treatment. He was able to be worked in today for an MRI of the brain (as lung cancer metastasis to the brain is common). Dr. just called us and yes, they found two small suspicious places in the brain. Derek will have the PET Scan in the morning and we meet with the Dr. again tomorrow afternoon. The pulmonologist is speaking with the oncologist today and will have more information for us tomorrow. We meet for the first appt. with the Thoracic Oncologist, Monday. Originally, we were told that it is Stage III, but since we have the additional information regarding the brain, I am sure this will change. We are positive, however still in a state of shock. Derek said that the love he feels from family and friends is greater than most men would ever hope to know. He is ready for the fight and said he will not let this define who he is. Please continue to pray for our family. Prayer is not the least you can do.......it is the very best you can do for us. I will certainly update again tomorrow. Love and thankfulness to all.
