Teneriffe - Fight The Fence

Donation protected
In 1994 the conversion of Mactaggarts Woolstore was the first residential project completed in Teneriffe.  An integral part of the conversion was the creation of the walkway that connects Vernon Terrace to the Riverwalk.  The pathway has been used continuously by the public since then.

Now the body corporate of Mactagarts Place has built a fence to deliberately block that access.

The original plan for the Urban Renewal of Teneriffe was clear.  Public access to a network of pathways and green spaces that connected the community of Teneriffe to the River was an overarching of everything that was proposed.  That principle is just as important today.

The Teneriffe Progress Association (TPA) is an Incorporated Association formed in 2011 to represent the community of Teneriffe.  It lead a petition calling for the path to be reopened and formally protected as a public thoroughfare.  Over 1200 residents and visitors have signed petitions calling upon the Brisbane City Council to intervene, but nothing has happened.  Now some concerned residents are taking legal action aimed at achieving the same outcome – to have the path reopened and public access to the Riverwalk restored. In order to do this we need some fighting funds. Will you support us?

HELP US - donate now and help to protect a very important community asset and one of only three small green spaces with river access in the local area.

JOIN US - we meet on the third Wednesday of each month, at 7pm in the Railwayman's Shed, 29 Macquarie Street, Teneriffe (opposite Hastings Street).

Help spread the word!
