Legal Fee Fund for Marjorie Renn

Marjorie Renn moved to Minneapolis from Ecuador nine years ago to start a new life, leaving behind her family for the promise of safety and security. During this time, she's met and married the love of her life and started a family. She's also become an integral part of our family- always there to offer a loving word, makeup advice, babysitting support, yoga poses to reduce stress, and delicious smoothie recipes. She's grown extremely close to our grandmother, providing hours of joy at her assisted living home in St. Paul. Essentially, she's our family's guardian angel.

For the last two years, Marjorie and her husband have been going through the legal proceedings for her to obtain citizenship.  In fact, just two weeks ago they received their A 1 status and were planning to go back to Ecuador this year and continue the process.



On Tuesday, September 11, Marjorie was pulled over by police and placed in a 48-hour jail hold.  She is currently in Chaska ICE Detention Center, where she's expected to remain until a judge makes a decision on bail. Marjorie has an attorney with immigration and criminal experience so that she won't be permanently separated from her loved ones, and all her hard work to become an American citizen won't be for nothing. We've already spent $7,500 on legal fees and expect that number rise. We're heartbroken and scared for this amazing woman who we can't imagine living without.
