My Friends,

I am a retired naval officer,  former manager with  Northrop Grmman, and for the last 17 years a Methodist minister

In May of 2016 I underwent surgery for gall bladder removal. During the work up for my gall bladder surgury they discovered something very wrong.  They discovered that I had multiple myeloma.  After the surgery tests at Mary Bird Perkins in St Tammany Hospital confirmed multiple myloma; a cancer of the bone marrow and white blood cells. I was referred to the the leading myloma research hospital in the nation Extensive testing confirmed that my condition was at a critical state and could not delay immediate treatment. A wait of one week may put me beyond point of reasonable expecting remission or complete cure.   I was shocked!

I  was given four days of chemo   follwed by three weeks of recovery.  Then sent home for three weeks and returned for a week outpatient testing  I was admitted again and given 4 days of chemo followed by 4 weeks of recovery.  On both occasions in the hospital I acquired dangerous infections due to the chemo compromising my immune system.   The good news is that the myeloma was significantly reduced.

This cancer does not spread to other parts of the body. The tumors remain in upper body bone marrow .  The blood components produced by the tumors cause  - over time - cause liver, kidney and other vital organs to fail.

It was determined by my onocologist that due to the number of infections after chemo, that I would not be  a good candidate for stem cell bone marrow transplant.

During 2017 I achieved complete remission however a relapse has occurred.  Because my overall health has improved I am now a candidate for stem cell bone marrow transplant.

I am blessed that my insurances will cover all basic expenses.  However, there are many costs not directly covered.  Driving from Covington Louisiana to Little Rock,  food and lodging during outpatient testing and treatment,  lost wages due to medical leave, and many more unforseen expenses continue to stress finances.

Your financial help is needed. .

Doctors tell me that I will be making many trips to this hospital over the next several years.  Require out of pocket costs for tranportation, food, lodging, and more.

Initally when first diagnosed and hospitalized, the financial shock was significant and the donations.  Now financial status is somewhat stable and many unnecessary expenses have been eliminated and essential expenses have been rearranged.

Please pray for healing -  be bold in your prayers and ask for the whole enchilata.

I  believe that God will provide and God may call upon you to  help answer my prayer.

Thank you!
