Amputate my cats leg

I have a 2 year old cat that I rescued from the Trenton shelter a little over a year ago. A few weeks ago he was outside and when he came back inside, he was limping on his left hine leg. I immediately took him to the vet and they informed me that it was a major fracture. They recommend I put a splint on him and come back every week to change the bandage and to keep an eye on the leg. I had to open a credit card to pay for all of these visits and the x-rays. I am now over $1000 in debt. Last week when I took him back, the informed me that the leg is actually getting worse and the best possible recommendation they had for his best chance was to amputate his leg. They quoted me $1500 for same day surgery and medication. I hate asking people for money but I am in a very tight spot. Anything you can assist with I would be so grateful. Thank you so much.
