Helping Ali after fire
Donation protected
Ali Hoefnagel is pretty amazing, but she needs our help after a fire broke out in her apartment on July 21, ruining everything she had. It was electrical and Ali was not there when it happened. Thankfully, no one was hurt. Ali did not have renters' insurance.
For those of you that don't know Ali, well, you are missing out. Ali is an actor, arts administrator, teaching artist, best friend, Sleater Kinney super fan and lover of penguins and cats. As an artist and educator, she is committed to embracing the complexity of the queer identity to create new and engaging ways to address LGBTQA issues with the community at large. Last night she opened the show Ad Hoc [Home] with About Face Youth Theatre. You should go see it!
Over the past couple of days, Ali, friends, and family have gone through the apartment to salvage what could be saved, but the outcome was pretty bad. It is time for Ali to make plans for a new home and start to replace all that was lost.
Ali is so generous with her time, resources and love. Now, she needs our help! If the fire wasn't enough, she also had suprise gallbladder surgery a few weeks ago - what a month! We are asking for $25,000 to help her get back on her feet and cover the expenses of finding a new place (research and cost-analysis on all that was lost led us to this number). $5,000 will go towards finding and moving into a new apartment (which could include fees, deposits, first and last month's rent, etc). The larger $20,000 will cover everything else - clothing, books, furniture, food, and dishes - along with the personal items.
Pleased consider giving to support Ali. Any amount would be a huge help and really show Ali how much we care about her.
Thank you so much!
A happy moment when her BF saved her penguin friend!
