Help our dad beat MS!

They say losing a loved one is one of the hardest things a person can go through, but through personal experience, watching someone you love suffer for an extended period of time is just as heartbreaking.

For those who don't know me, my name is Bailey Hughson and I am a 17 year old teenage girl. All throughout my life, I have looked up to many individuals and strived to be like them. But one man that sticks out to me is my father, Conrad Hughson; a man of wit, intelligence, selflessness & passion.

Since the time I can first remember, my dad has always been my best friend, biggest role model & someone who would always leave me with a smile on my face; always cracking jokes, even at the most inappropriate times, making light of every situation & just being a goofball.

What many people may not know about my dad is that he has suffered from multiple sclerosis, a progressing and relapsing disease that effects the central nervous system, for the past six years. This has taken a toll not only on him but the ones that love him. Watching my dad progressively get worse and suffer more and more each day tears me apart and breaks me into pieces. Knowing that my dad wants to do the things with his children that he once could but no longer can is heart wrenching.

He has recently been accepted to a state of the art facility in Peublo, Mexico for HSCT (hematopoietic stem cell transplant), a procedure that has proven to be highly effective in halting the progression of MS. This is super exciting for our family but this is a long, expensive journey. He & a caregiver will have to be in Mexico for 28 days and he will then have a lengthy recovery at home.

Anyone who has been fortunate enough to know my dad knows just how amazing of a father, son, grandson, brother & friend he is, and that no one is more deserving of a second chance than him. I need my dad to be the one to dance with me on my grad day and walk me down the aisle on my wedding day and that won't be possible without your help.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
