I am a Life Scout in Boy Scout Troop 191, Manahawkin NJ. I am working towards my Eagle Scout Rank and must lead a service project that serves my community. My project is the repair and improvement of the outdoor kitchen in the picnic pavilion at the Manahawkin Elks Lodge.
The outdoor kitchen service building has fallen into some disrepair and needs to be updated to provide the Elks a more efficient means to cook and serve while hosting their many fund raisers to help support handicapped children as well as our troops from all of our military branches.
I am asking for donations in many ways to purchase the needed supplies including track shelving, plastic hardware bins, pvc piping, electrical outlets, switches, boxes and covers as well as paint, ceiling fans, caulking, screws, plywood, pressure treated lumber, lamps and much more. They are also in need of appliances such as a refrigerator, open top freezer, microwave oven and more.
I have applied for donations to many local stores however although they help with gift cards they only cover a fraction of what needs to be purchased to even come close to a proper job.
Local stores and corporations are not able to help as they usually would have due to Sandy hitting the area. They are helping all they can to help local residents rebuild as well as rebuilding their own stores in some cases. I am pretty much relying on the help of friends and family at this point.
