Ian Hume's Medical Bills & Get Well

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Simon. I am fortunate to have the job of managing Two Wheel Transit bike shop on South Perry St. here in Spokane, Washington. I have been in the bicycle industry for the last 17 years. Like a few of my co-workers, I would refer to myself as a "Lifer." There isn't much else that makes me happy like bicycles. I plan on being involved with bikes for the rest of my life. I think this obsession and passion is what I found so amazing about Ian Hume. Ian is whom this GoFundMe is all about. Ian lives everyday hoping to pedal up, around and down mountains on his bike. He hasn't been in the bike industry that long but you wouldn’t know that with his wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm. He would be the first to offer up his bike for someone to experience what he does. Sadly, on the night of Monday, July 18th, Ian was struck by an oncoming car that seemed to have intentionally aimed for him. This sent him into a curb and over the bars. And yet the driver of this vehicle simply drove off, leaving Ian laying on the side of road. I had received a photo from Ian only two hours before hand of a beautiful sunset with the caption, "Road rides are fun I guess." This accident isn't an unusual occurrence either here in Spokane or across the country. We are just fortunate enough that Ian is still alive and in time will recover. He sustained a severely broken nose and upper jaw. He also broke several teeth and lost two of his front. In addition to well over 60 stitches in his tongue and face. He currently is home recovering with the love and support of his parents at his side.

We have great insurance but as most all of us know, there are always additional costs to injuries like this. I would love to be able to go a step further in showing support Ian and his family by starting this GoFundMe. This would at least help offset the ongoing dental charges and visits that are undoubtedly going to take place.

Ian is extremely kind and considerate. There sincerely isn’t a more deserving person in the bicycle industry here in Spokane. I know that these funds would simply overwhelm him and help ease the financial burdens. It would be great for the cycling community to be able to support Ian now as Ian has been and will continue to be a tremendous cycling advocate himself.

Thank you so much for considering helping Ian through this tough time of recovery! It is an honor to be part of this towns cycling family…
