New Transport Bus for our residents

The Virginia Home is a nursing home for adults living with severe, irreversible physical disabilities. We're here to provide compassionate, professional care for these folks for the rest of their lives, regardless of their ability to pay for their care - and most cannot.
The most important thing we can offer our 130 residents is quality of life. Just like you and me, our residents want to be a part of the community. They want to work, go to church, shop, attend events, volunteer and especially travel - something most have never done before. We make it possible by offering free transportation in specially equipped buses and vans that we own.
Unfortunately, two of our large buses (cover photo) are now over 10 years old and have over 100k miles each. Right now we have no vehicle that can safely transport more than two residents. Of the two buses that need to be replaced, one can no longer be used at all since it needs a new engine. And due to the frequency of breakdowns, the other can only be used for local travel. The heart of our Community Integration program for our residents has been sidelined.
The buses are custom-made by Rohrer in PA. Called a Ford Transit, they are built on a Ford T350 wheelbase and are equipped to seat up to 4 wheelchair passengers and 3 ambulatory passengers. The complete cost per vehicle is $65,000. $130,000 for both.
As a 501(c)(3) organization, we're applying for grants to help fund at least one of the buses, but the other one is an immediate need. All money raised here will be restricted to that purchase and will help us as we apply to grantors. If we can raise the money by the end of October 2016, we'll be able to get all of our holiday trips and visits back on the books.
