Bryan's Cancer Fight

On 24th Feb 2014 after feeling unwell, it was discovered that Bryan had terminal bowel cancer. After failed surgery to remove the tumour, Bryan was left with a colostomy bag and begun fortnightly trips from Young to Sydney to receive ongoing treatments of radiation and chemotherapy.

A CT scan in September 2014 revealed the cancer had spread to Bryan’s liver and lungs. But Bryan never given up hope and continued all the different treatments offered to beat this horrible disease.

In June this year, after many, many trips to Sydney,  Bryan ended up in hospital with pneumonia for 8 days. The cancer is now rapidly spreading and causing a lot of referred pain that makes sitting for any length of time very painful. Bryan has been told to stop all treatments in Sydney as they are no longer slowing the progress of the cancer. Bryan now is to be made comfortable at home until he can no longer cope with the pain without being in hospital.

Bryan’s wife, Cheryl, has been by his side every step of this heartbreaking journey. But unfortunately, the bills do not stop and she has been working herself into the ground to be able to manage the bills alone while also travelling the 5 hour trip to Sydney on a fortnightly basis to get the treatment Bryan needed.

Any monies donated will help lighten the financial burden and will hopefully allow Cheryl to spend more time at home with Bryan during his hardest fight for life.
