"We Rise By Lifting Each Other Up"

My name is Michael aka Phoenix Rises

I am raising money to get my musical project on Vinyl and sell those records with the goal of raising money for the homeless.
I have Worked on it for the last year and a half and it was always a personal dream to raise money for a truly needy cause.
Making music has always been something i have done for fun but now i have made the decision to use it to launch a series of recordings ( Mine being the first ) To highlight the needs of the many affected homeless people of my home city .

I worked as a watch repairer in Brisbane CBD for a few years , and each year it shocked me in regards to how many more disadvantaged people i would notice as the years progressed . Even then i made an effort to do what i could to help , travelling in each morning i paid close attention to the locations of people sleeping rough in the alleyways and on park benches . It made me feel good to walk down into those same alleys on my lunch breaks with bags of food and give it away and have chats with them and make sure they were ok .

The reactions and thanks from them was worth far more to me than the money i had at the time .
I think i can make a difference taking care of individual's who can no longer care for themselves .But enough about me .

A little information For consideration :

Homelessness Affects everyone in our community
The youth , the elderly , the disadvantaged , the mentally ill , returned veterans and sometimes the very unlucky who have simply fallen on hard times. These people our our brothers and sisters our mothers and fathers , sometimes even our grandmothers and grandfathers . They are human beings and they need our help.

Homelessness Counts during Homelessness Week 2016, Homelessness is increasing in our community. Currently there are 105,000 people experiencing homelessness every night in Australia, and many more living in insecure housing, one step away from being homeless. Everyone in our society is important.

Homelessness : It’s scary. It’s stressful. And spending 24 hours a day in difficult, scary and stressful conditions is traumatic. After a while, it plays on a person’s ability to cope. This inability to cope with day-to-day life circumstances manifests in a variety of ways—self harm, drug and/or alcohol misuse, abusive behaviour toward others, etc.

Given the opportunity—and the strength—to seek professional help, many will be diagnosed with depression, post-traumatic stress disorder or the more noncommittal borderline personality disorder.
Most homeless people will never even have the chance to be diagnosed and treated.

In this case, homelessness—and any number of other problems that led to the state of homelessness to begin with (abuse, neglect or simply a string of terrible turns in one’s life)—led to the illness. And as the vast majority of these people remain diagnosed, there’s no telling how many people on the street are suffering from mental health problems of this nature.

For this campaign :

The target of $6000 will get 1000 records pressed at a cost of $5.71 per record , these records will be sold at $20 each will help me get $20,000 for this cause.
100% of the money donated will be used to float the pressing of this vinyl record which i plan to sell and donate all of the proceeds to a soup kitchen in Brisbane city , which also doubles as a day centre providing many service's .

This would mean the world to me as i can kill two birds with one stone
1. I can turn a dream of mine into reality by having my music make a difference to the lives of other's in a meaningful way .
2.Help Brisbane's homeless by giving the proceeds to a project that takes care of those who are doing it the hardest .

Where exactly will the funds raised be donated ?

Once we have hit the target to manufacture the records and get them sold within the Brisbane nightlife scene, Local record stores and DJ community the funds will be Donated in full to the 139 club in Brisbane CBD
( what is the 139 club )

The 139 Club is a drop-in centre with an 'open door' policy, offering support for people in adverse personal situations.

Over 250 people come through the doors of the 139 Club every day, accessing a whole range of supports including: meals, showers, laundry, mail distribution, rest on day beds, storage, second hand clothing, welfare supports, and emergency financial relief.
A range of visiting services also provide a range of allied services including:
Spiritus Nursing staff
Bulk billing GP
Chiropractor
Mental Health outreach workers
Drug & Alcohol outreach workers
Medicare staff
Centrelink staff
Caxton Legal Centre staff

This will be the first of many future recordings which will include local DJ's and music artist's which will be sold to support this cause .

I will be personally meeting with :

Local record stores
Various night club owners
DJ's
Local music Artists
Who would also like to contribute via Music to be released / Time / and or funds.
To ensure that this campaign hits the mark that i have set and to ensure future releases to continue this work .

Words cannot explain just how much this would make me happy by being able to keep giving through my music now that i cannot do it myself with food donations in person each week . So essentially you will be helping me help others .
Bless you all tremendously for taking the time to read this and for any help you are willing to give on this quest of mine .

Much love to you and to all
