In order to be fully prepared for their futures, teens need meaningful opportunities to connect to their communities. They need to know how to access the services, opportunities available in their community to help them successfully graduate high school and transition into their adult lives.

“Teen Talk is important to me because it gives teens an opportunity to get their views out to the public. This is nice in a world where teen voices are sometimes overlooked.”
-Kyla, senior at Cicero-North Syracuse High School

They want to be informed about the many services that are available to them. They want a chance to test the waters of adulthood while maintaining a safety net, so that they can be prepared to enter the “real world” when it’s time. They want options. Options to have fun in a safe environment. Options to improve the way they feel without drugs or alcohol. Options to be taken seriously without judgment, as they try to figure out who they truly are.

That’s the purpose of our first annual Teen Fest. We want teens to have an opportunity to have fun and learn in a way that appeals to them. In addition to teen-focused content, the entire event is organized by Contact Community Services’ Teen Talk program, which provides Central New York teens with opportunities to make their voices heard. Teen Talkers are involved in all aspects of TeenFest, including booking the entertainment, selecting the vendors, decorating, fundraising, marketing, and media promotion. This provides our unique event with the advantage of truly being designed in a teen-friendly manner. Teens respond to their peers; this is a peer-organized event.

“I believe our festival is something that will help all teens, show us some steps we need to take to be ready to enter the ‘real world,’ and guide us in making healthy decisions.”
-Jaclyn, junior at Corcoran High School

“The festival is a great way for youth to learn about wellness and become aware of how they can improve their mental, physical, and emotional health.”
-Sophia, senior at Corcoran High School

“This event is great for youth in our area because it shows them that they have value and causes them to focus on important aspects of life and their futures.”
-Anna, sophomore at Marcellus High School

Funds raised through this campaign will be used to cover all the last-minute expenses for TeenFest, including equipment rental, event promotion, and volunteer support.

The sooner we get the funds, the better! However, we'll accept donations right up to the event on August 6.

We're deeply appreciative for each and every donation. Every dollar received helps us create a fun and safe opportunity for teens to socialize and gather important information. Donations also allow us to offer free admission to the public.
