Cassie breast cancer support
The most important thing are prayers for healing.
Many people are asking to help them so we set up this fund in response to so many people wanting to help.
Now for the update on things...
I finished my LAST day of radiation this Wednesday!!!! Yay for us I got to come back home and now getting settled back in to the routine of things. I only have a few more months of chemo (herceptin only) and they are going to run a bunch of tests and scans on me in another few months to double check that all this hard work is paying off and then another surgery or two later in the year.
I am still traveling back and forth to MD Anderson every three weeks for that but am so glad that I am not having to live there in order to get it done! I am feeling pretty good overall and things are definitely looking up. I am not sure how we could have gotten this far without each and every one of you. Your love and prayers and support mean the world to our family. We know that it's not over yet and this is going to be a long road but we are praying that we are on the downhill side of things and can just coast from here on out.
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you.
I know that we are finally getting back into a routine.
I am living down in the Houston area with some family while I do my 6 weeks of radiation and Andrew is home with the girls. I got to come home for this last three day weekend and spend some good time with my family which was a huge blessing. I am now back in Houston and just had my first day of week two radiation and so far so good. They told me to expect by the end of this week beginning of next week to start seeing some side effects show up. We will pray for minimal. I also start school again tomorrow and am looking forward to knocking out a few more classes towards my masters degree. No real updates right now as we go through radiation everything seems to be on the upside and continuing to get better every day. I will continue to keep everyone updated as we progress through the next few months as we still have a journey ahead of us but it is all down hill from here we hope.
Thank you again for all your love and support we look forward to this new year with great optimism.
Do all things without grumbling or disputing, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast to the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I may be proud that I did not run in vain or labor in vain. Even if I am to be poured out as a drink offering upon the sacrificial offering of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all. Likewise you also should be glad and rejoice with me.
We sure did. A special thank you to those that helped to make my kids Christmas the best one ever. I just have to to keep explaining to them this is not going to be like this every year.
I wanted to wait til after Christmas to give everyone an update so here goes:
After surgery we had our first follow up where they removed one drain out of four and said that everything was looking good. No lifting anything over a milk jug or driving until all the drains come out. The second follow up another drain came out and I also received a dose of herceptin which is the chemo drug that targets the protein that feeds the cancer cells. I will be on this for a year. It is not the bad combination of chemo drugs that we just did just one of them. Surgerys pathology results came back with 10% cancer left in the tumors with all clear margins and they removed 33 lymph nodes which all came back negative for any more cancer in them!!! So great news! We are currently cancer free!!!! I will continue the herceptin for a full year to keep the cancer away and will continue to have check ups with the medical oncologist every three months. I will also be having my heart checked every three months as this chemo drug can cause some acute heart failure and we want to keep a close eye on that.
We have had the third drain removed and have one to go.
Pending that third drain coming out we are set to begin radiation starting January 10 for 6 weeks. Cade and myself will be staying with my aunt and uncle down in the Houston area during this time and are hoping to come home on the weekends.
We go back for another check up on January 2,3 for a slew of tests and appointments and are hoping it all goes smoothly as well. We also "plan to have surgery again sometime around July to remove these hard expanders and put in real
So far we have been immensely blessed by the results and by all of your love and support for us. We are so great full to have each and every one of you.
We can not thank you enough.
Merry Christmas and a happy new year!!!
We do know that this will be a lifelong continuing "watch" but praise God that for the time being I am free from cancer!
I do still have to do radiation and have more surgeries ahead of me but the cancer is gone which is the biggest blessing!
The Surgeon called today and here is what she said
For the Right breast there were clear margins meaning no cancer was found at the highest or lowest points of tissue removal of the breast tissue and they successfully removed all tumors
Left breast no tumors or cancerous tissue found
Right breast and axillary --33 lymph nodes removed total
All 33 were now cancer free!
So GREaT response to chemo!!
Thank you everyone for the continued prayers
I know the war is not over but this part of the battle has been won!!
1 Chronicles 5:20
......because they cried out to him during the battle. He answered their prayers, because they trusted in him.
Father, your word says that she touched the hem of your garment and was healed. We ask that your power would flow threw Cassie body and she would be healed in Jesus name. Amen Matthew 9:20-22King James Version (KJV) 20 And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment: 21 For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole. 22 But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.
Thank you for sharing Scriptures daily and for having such a faith that you can see God's plan beyond your self. That is inspiring beyond measure. I've only met you in passing once or twice, but I cannot wait to meet you again one day. You are an amazing woman and child of God! Keep up your strength and determination. I'm so thankful that you're surrounded by a loving, supportive family and friends. God bless!
Good grief, sometimes I get the illusion that I am a tough guy and then I see you taking all this on with chemo and shaved heads and a tribe of kids and processing it all and keeping a positive attitude. We're all humbled, Cassie. Keep it up, We love you guys!
