Mykin Family fund
I created this fund in order to help Bill, her husband and the children's father, with driving and caretaking/ nursing assistance for Madeline who has Retts Syndrome. House cleaning and laundry assistance as well as any other household assistance will be covered. The funds will also go to help with purchasing meals as Bill, Garrett, and Madeline have Celiacs disease so it will be easier for me to order them meals which guarantee no contamination. Also, Madeline needs special care. I know many have offered to drive or watch her but that is not an option if the person doesn't know her well and understand all of her needs.
Please consider sponsoring a lunch $25, dinner $50, a day of special child care for Madeline $125, or any amount you can give to help.
The Mykins have done so much for so many... fundraising for their local Elementary School, The Harbour School, and their Temple. It's time for us to give back in their time of need!
We have been astounded by the outpouring of love and support from our friends and family in Annapolis and across the country. It has been a very humbling experience for us, while at the same time it has been an incredible demonstration of the goodness and compassion of humanity that exists in all of us, but that’s unfortunately too often overshadowed by our hectic lives and the dark-side of mankind portrayed by the media.
To all the folks that have provided hands-on-help, donated through the GoFundMe site or directly, and/or simply passed on words of encouragement, we would like to express our deepest and heartfelt appreciation for all of your efforts and support. We could not and cannot get through this without you. You are truly a blessing to our family and will forever be part of it!
It’s hard to believe that this is day 12 after the accident, so much has happened, but at the same time we have such a long way to go that it’s at times overwhelming. Many folks have inquired about how Steffani, William, and Garrett are doing, so we wanted to provide an update:
William – was discharged from the hospital last Friday (July 15th) and has been recuperating at home and enjoying playdates with friends.
Garrett – is still in the hospital and his condition has been improving every day. He still has a lot of pain, but has been walking and starting to eat solid food again. If his recovery continues on the current trend, he should be transferred to rehab early this week. His spirits are good and has been enjoying visits by friends and ordering his dad around.
Steffani – is still in the hospital and her condition is slowly improving, however, she is not out of the woods yet. She had a milestone on Wednesday when the doctors were finally able to close her abdomen, which is important, b/c it sets into motion a process for recovery with the goal of getting her weaned from sedation/breathing tube and well enough to be transferred out of the intensive care unit. She still has several fractures (leg, heel, and arm) that will need to be fixed over the next couple of weeks, and follow-up procedures that will extend beyond that. It’s too early to know when she might be discharged from the hospital and rehab needs.
Going forward, updates on our family’s healing will be available via the following link: www.caringbridge.org/visit/mykinsfamily.
Note: You will have to register as a user on the site in order to access updates. Please feel free ignore the donation buttons on the site, they go to CaringBridge and don’t have any direct connection to maintaining the Mykins Family site.
Thank you all again!
Our family sends you all prayers.
Laura I am sorry for what had happened to your family and I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.
