Christie's 2nd Cancer Fight

My name is Christie Wright.  I am 43 years old, the wife of Lee and the mother of 6 year old, Jack.  I have just been told that the colon cancer I thought I had gotten rid of 6 months ago through surgery and chemo has metastisized to my liver and my peritoneum.  I would never aks for help like this if not for the fact that we are still paying the costs of my prior bout with cancer, and the fallout that has been a result of my not working at that time and the medical bills.  

Now we are about to undertake another battle, and this one is going to be even more difficult.  Metastisis to the peritoneum is the main concern,  the liver cancer can be dealt with in a few different ways.  The outlook for people with peritoneal metastisis from colon cancer is not good, at most, it is 5 years.  There are some procedures that can resect the peritoneum, and this adds time to the life expectancy, but studies show the average for survival is still only averaging about 8 years post resection.   I plan to beat that average by a long shot.  My doctor has said that we have several factors in our favor, the most important of which was the early detection.   I will most likely end up at Vanderbilt, Emory or Wake Forrest to have the surgery, as there is no one in Chattanooga that does it.  I will also have to complete chemotherapy again.  

As a family, we are looking at more medical bills, extended (if not permanent) leave from work, and travel and lodging expenses when we do find out where I will be.  I am not comfortable asking for help, it is not something I do often or easily.  I hope that you know that anything you give will be used for my medical expenses, and expenses related to them.  I can't express fully how grateful we are for any help you can give, just know that it is truly appreciated.
