Monika is 37 years old. She's a mother to three beautiful young children and happily married to her husband of 15 years. Until very recently, she focused on raising her family and building her career (she's the Finance Manager of a boutique NYC advertising agency).
It's impossible not to love Monika. She's the kind of person who takes care of everyone else around her. Her smile and witty sense of humor make every room better and brighter.
In her spare time, Monika uses photography to share her perspectives on all of the moments, situations and beautiful things around her.
In June 2016, snapshots of cityscapes, flowers and family shifted to doctors' offices, hospital visits and chemotheraphy. Monika was unexpectedly diagnosed with Stage IV Adenocarcinoma of the stomach. This aggressive form of cancer affects just 21,000 people each year, and a cure is not usually possible. According to cancer.org, there is a 4% survival rate for Stage IV patients.
Despite this devastating statistic, Monika is fighting for her life with a spirit and attitude that inspire everyone who knows her (and many others who don't).
As you can imagine, the burden of hospital bills and treatment has taken a toll financially and emotionally. So, we’re raising money to help support Monika and her family during the hardest time of their lives.
Billions of dollars are raised annually for cancer research. But, oftentimes the patients, who need it the most, never receive help.
100% of the proceeds from this crowdfunding campaign will benefit Monika, her family and their expenses.
