Living With Love

I met Travis Love four years ago when he began needing caregiving services. His life has been a non-stop struggle from the beginning, though he would never admit to that and humbly say “things could be much worse.”

He is only one of few remaining adults born with MPS, which kills over 90% born with it before the age of 12. Travis has broken expectations time and again by beating the odds, putting himself through college, and participated in Google Summer of Code to design an accessible app that would allow the disabled to program. When the disease took the use of his legs, he refused to accept the limitations and went skydiving.

Unfortunately, things have only gotten worse for him since. The progressive disease has left him no longer able to move his upper body and arms, leaving him unable to work and barely able to use his aging computer. He has been in the ICU four times over the last four years, and has been on hospice once. With diminishing breathing strength and rising CO2 levels, doctors don’t know how much longer to give him

Despite it all, he still tries to help others with what little he has. I want to help make his life as comfortable and memorable as possible. Though I’ve never seen him without a smile, I see he is becoming more depressed from feeling trapped and “useless.”

With your wonderful help Travis will be able to get:

A custom computer capable of handling his voice recognition software, as well as graphic design and video editing. He will be able to continue blogging, and creating inspirational content and apparel again.

A bedroom makeover that will liven up the room he spends all of his time in. He doesn’t want the last thing he sees to be a small white walled room filled with ever increasing medical equipment. He loves the modern minimal look of IKEA, and I would love share the expression on his face with a suprise IKEA shopping trip.

Since Travis no longer has upper body mobility, he needs a home management system that will allow him to control lights, locks, and other appliances with his voice, and keeping important things like oxygen running if the power goes out.

All the kind messages and help that people have given to help Travis be able to be communicate with the outside world, help him stay as independent as possible in his home and to help him be able to look at other things besides blank white walls.
This page will be up about another 8 to 10 days before we close it done. If you would please continue to share and help where you can it would very appreciated.
Again thank you too all that have helped this far.

Travis met his goal of the $5000. Thank you for helping him. Due to the amount of fees that they take out we have increased the amount some so that he has enough to get everything done that he needs. Please continue to share this.

Feeling like a broken record, I can't thank everyone enough for your continued support. But I am still a ways off from my goal, so if I have found favor in your eyes somehow, please continue sharing.
