Textbooks for REACH Uganda

REACH is a newly-founded, non-profit organization whose mission is to promote basic quantitative skills in partnership with local primary school teachers in Uganda.

We recently received a CAD$19,500 (USD 15,000) grant from D-Prize, the NYU Reynolds Program on Social Entrepreneurship and NYU Green Grants to begin our pilot program this coming school semester in September. The grant will cover training, monitoring, and evaluation expenses, as well as staffing upkeep from July–December 2016. However, to fully implement our project, we need a little extra funding for student textbooks.

We will be purchasing 750 MK Mathematics textbooks, the best available government approved books used in public schools across the country to donate to the schools participating in our program.  While each book costs only CAD$9 (UGX 20,000/USD 7), many schools and families are unable to afford this cost, leading to classrooms that are severely undersupplied.

A single book you donate will go a long way to helping our cause!

More about REACH:
In its pilot phase, our education model brings the “flip the classroom” intervention to the Ugandan context by providing 15 schools with low-cost and sustainable learning materials, and providing training developed by education experts in order to help teachers tackle the issue of limited resources. We envision every primary school student in Uganda graduating with the skills they need to pursue higher education and realize their goals. REACH is run by David Kafambe, Angelina Micha Djaja, Clara Bicalho and Eduardo Campillo.
