Vet Bills - Tunica Humane Society

Those of you that follow the work of the Tunica Humane Society know firsthand, that their love for these precious animals knows no boundaries.  Not only do they serve as the only animal control and shelter in Tunica County, MS, many times they are first in line to help animals from other areas of the country that are in desperate need of rescue.  They do all of this without receiving one penny of financial support from Tunica County.  They are a small, no-kill shelter that depends totally on the kindness and generosity of others.  Without your financial support, they cannot help the countless animals that they do, month after month, year after year.  The Tunica Humane Society has a very strong track record of saving lives, as evidenced by the numerous stories and photos that they share on their Facebook page.
 
Over the last few months, the Tunica Humane Society has been hit hard with many emergency situations that have depleted their operating funds.  They have always been an organization that is faith-based.  Over and over, they step out in faith, when a dog or cat is gravely injured or in desperate need of medical attention.  Over and over, they rescue dogs and puppies who are about to be euthanized at high-kill facilities.  Unfortunately, for many of the abandoned and unwanted animals in their midst, there is no help in sight.  If they don't come to aid these helpless pets, they will surely perish.  In their eyes, every animal deserves a chance at life.  And as long as their funding allows, they will continue to save as many of these animals as they possibly can.

Waylon is just one of the gravely injured dogs who has recently passed thru the doors at the Tunica Humane Society.  Waylon was struck by a speeding car on a busy highway, while he was searching for food on the side of the road.  Both hind legs were shattered, requiring two major surgeries by an orthopedic vet specialist.  Waylon could have been left for dead on that highway, cars flying past his broken body without a second thought.  In many eyes, he was just a stray dog.   But to the Tunica Humane Society, Waylon was a precious life, suffering unimaginable pain and they didn't hesitate to rescue him.  They took a huge step in faith that day because Waylon was worth it.   After thousands of dollars in medical bills, Waylon is a happy, healthy dog today.    He is now in a loving home and that is PRICELESS.
