The Matsetsa Project - PDI
Donation protected
To all the dreamers,
Matsetsa is a rural community in Swaziland where the insidious cycle of HIV/AIDS and poverty is seen in its most vivid manifestations. A group of Aussies, including a medical doctor and founder of a non-profit, Possible Dreams International (PDI), a health promotions officer from the Victorian AIDS Council and three medical students from Victorian universities, are currently in Matsetsa, witnessing the enormous challenges confronting this community. We are calling on you to fund an opportunity for positive change, The Matsetsa Project.
Possible Dreams International, Inc (http://www.possibledreams.org/) is a non-profit organisation which partners with rural and remote communities in Swaziland, Southern Africa to empower families and individuals living with extreme poverty, malnutrition and endemic disease. Swaziland has the highest prevalence of HIV/AIDS in the world and an extremely high proportion of vulnerable households headed by women and orphaned children. Our projects are driven by our local Swazi team and include Income Generation Projects (IGPs), Empowerment packages, Mealie Meal Project, Daily and Emergency Medical Funds, and The Dignity Project, providing comfort to those who are terminally ill.
The Matsetsa Project encompasses two arms:
1. Building four houses to provide urgent shelter for families and Gogos (grandmothers)
2. Building a soup kitchen to provide meals for orphans and the elderly, who are unable to look after themselves. Costs include building a two-bedroom house to serve as the kitchen, kitchen equipment, water installation and a year's supply of food.
Our target to fund the Matsetsa Project is $AUD 25,000. With this money, our local PDI team will be able to get to work making this dream a reality. Please see our YouTube channel (http://bit.ly/PDIyoutube)
for interviews with Swazi PDI workers and footage of the dire reality in Matsetsa.
Will you help us love the world into change?
Siyabonga kakhulu,
(Thank-you very much,)
