My name is Jackson Withrow, I recently graduated with my Master's Degree from Texas A&M University and am now pursuing my life-long dream of becoming a professional athlete.
I'm originally from Omaha, Nebraska and have been playing competitive tennis for the last 12 years of my life. My tennis career hasn't always been easy as for the past 27 months; I underwent 3 major wrist surgeries, which sidelined me from the game for a total of 22 months. Over that period of time, I questioned if I was ever going to play tennis again and with the help of the Texas A&M medical staff, my dream of becoming a professional tennis player lives on. Being out of tennis for that long has propelled and reenergized my drive and hunger for the sport that I love so much. I'm a three-time All-American and made the Finals of the NCAA tournament (May 2016) in doubles. With my recent success, I've decided to further pursue my dream in hope to make tennis my life as I strive to become one of the greatest doubles players in the world.
Being that I recently graduated, I just started playing my first couple of professional tournaments in hope to gain enough points to travel the world and compete competitively at a professional level. It has been a dream of mine to play all four Grand Slams (Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon & U.S. Open) and now that I've started my professional career I see those tournaments as a possible reality. I have the experience of playing at that level by competing with Jack Sock (currently #26 ATP) at the U.S. Open in 2011 and know that I have the skill set to get back there. Though, to make this goal attainable I will need your help! Entry-level professional tennis is extremely expensive with regards to travel, equipment, tournament fees and other miscellaneous expenses, and with those costs I am unable to cover it all on my own.
At the end of the day, when it's all said and done, I would not be given this opportunity without the sacrifice and selfless service of my parents. My dad has been my coach for as long as I can remember and without his commitment and patience I would not be the man I am today. My mom has been my #1 supporter, even if she is too nervous to watch sometimes. Her loving and nurturing characteristics have shaped me into ways that I never thought were possible. Without these two by my side, I would not be where I am today. I'm extremely humbled and blessed to have such an amazing group of people in my corner supporting my dream that I know will soon become a reality.
I've been involved with tennis for the past decade and I wish to make it my life and profession. I have the upmost confidence in my abilities to not only be competitive at this level, but also to be extremely successful. I am grateful for any help that I can get and will use any of the proceeds given towards my dream of becoming a professional tennis player. Thank you and all the best!
