MAKAYLA'S BRAIN SURGERY

Please HELP our little Angel, Makayla, who will be undergoing brain surgery on July 25th. Makayla is a beautiful 5 year old with an amazing personality. She has wonderful parents and a very loving, older brother Trenton.
Makayla has been diagnosed with a condition called Moyamoya. She has been going back and forth between KU Med and Children's Mercy for almost 2 years now. These trips are quite expensive, as are the medical bills.
“Moyamoya” means “puff of smoke” in Japanese. The disease gets its name from the wispy, tangled appearance of the new blood vessels that emerge in the brain (as the body attempts to compensate for the inadequate blood supply).
• Moyamoya disease is a progressive condition, meaning that symptoms worsen over time and the child's chances of suffering a stroke increases.
• The only proven treatment is surgery to create a healthy, adequate new supply of blood for the impacted areas of the brain.
The EDAS (encephaloduroarteriosynangiosis) procedure is a synangiosis procedure that requires dissection of a scalp artery over a course of several centimeters and then making a small temporary opening in the skull directly beneath the artery. The artery is then sutured to a branch of the middle cerebral artery on the surface of the brain and the bone is replaced.
Please help my neice get through these hard times. Any donations will be used for travel expenses and medical bills.
The surgery will take place on JULY 25th.
