In Memory Of Alison Swift: Kids 529

Donation protected
Alison Taylor Swift left us on April 6, 2016. Formerly Alison Taylor Luscombe of Chatham NJ, she was Erik's beloved wife, Ella and Andrew's mother, Priscilla Kostick's sister, Cynthia Luscombe's daughter and an instant friend to anyone she encountered. She was just 43 years old.

This loss has devastated her family and community. If you never had the pleasure of meeting her, you missed out. A more vibrant, colorful and passionate individual would be tough to find.  Fearless despite the prospect of stage 4 colon cancer that additionally appeared in her liver, lungs and lymph nodes in January 2012, she was in remission eight months later. Learning on St Patrick's Day 2015 that it had returned didn't keep her down, and she went down swinging during her final days.

As a spouse, I'm piecing together her days before we met. Not only have I encountered hundreds of people that knew her during childhood and her college years in Elon NC, I've been reacquainted with everyone from treasured friends & neighbors to her closest colleagues from the NY talent industry.  Whether during an epic five-hour wake, a funeral to be remembered or a celebration for the ages at our house afterwards, one question came from everyone: "What can we do?" It has echoed across emails, texts, phone calls & social media.

This is it. It had been requested ahead of her funeral that in lieu of flowers to donate to our children's 529 college funds. It's what she would want.

It was suggested to me that this was a great method to reach people around the globe that may not know our address or are unsure how to help. I hope you agree.

Andy mentioned to me last week that Mommy would miss Ella's 9th birthday next week, April 25. "That's not true, buddy," I said. "She'll be there. She's here right now, watching you and me."

Colon cancer may have taken her from us, but don't let it stop her heartbeat in your minds and hearts. Alison will live on forever in the memories of many, and we appreciate in advance any consideration involving our children's futures. Thank you.
