Keymani Surgery Fund

Donation protected
This campaign is to help with the expenses for our 9 year old son Keymani who has just had his 3rd brain surgery.

As many of you know back in 2013 Keymani was diagnosed with epilepsy.  After being at the local Childrens Hospital for almost two years Keymani's seizures did not seem to be subsiding, the seizure medicine he was on was making him very irriatable and violent, and not to mention no testing was being done to see what was going on. When we contacted the neurology team about this I was told I was pretty much that I was blowing it out of porportion and it couldn't be that bad. At that time I then decided to contact VCU in Richmond, Virginia.  Within the first year of being with this team they ran numerous test, changed Keymani's medication (That had to be changed a few times until they found one that worked for him), and of course they found the white mass that they believed to be causing the seizures. At that time we decided  to proceed with having the surgery to remove the part of the brain that was causing the seizures. Everything seemed to be doing fine until last week. Keymani had was sent home with a fever. His fever lasted three days on the third day Keymani woke up and his face was swollen  like after he had had his first surgery. We immediatley took him to the Childerns Emergency Room at VCU. They took him to get an MRI where they saw an infection on the bone site that was now abcessed and they were taking him back for surgery again.  After removing a part of Keymani's skull for the third time this time the bone had to be sent off to be sterilized (It takes two months before it will be back) so in the mean time Keymani also had a PICC Line added so once he came home he is now receiving IV antibiotics every six hours. Keymani will be preparing for another surgery approximately in July to place the bone back in the skull. Normally I would never ask for anyones help but I am on LOA from my job to care for Keymani and my job does not offer short term disability to care for family members and I had to use all of my PTO/vacation hours during the first two surgeries. My family would greatly appreciate any donations that will help with the unexpected medical cost and travels that we are now dealing with.
