Holly Villacci 54, recently has been faced with the words no one wants to hear, Cancer.

Holly lives here in Falmouth Maine with her husband Mike and 3 children, Ryan, Heather and Evan.

Her diagnosis is Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML), also known as chronic myelogenous leukemia.  This type of cancer that starts in certain blood-forming cells of the bone marrow.

The leukemia cells grow and divide, building up in the bone marrow and spilling over into the blood. In time, the cells can also settle in other parts of the body, including the spleen.

CML is a fairly slow growing leukemia, but it can also change into a fast-growing acute leukemia that is hard to treat.

Holly's friends have come together to create this page for Holly and her family. The funds raised will help offset the expenses for deductibles and coinsurance cost.

Holly and the Villacci family, are grateful for the support of family, friends, neighbors, co-workers and the community in helping her achieve a piece of mind during this unwanted endevar and the quality of life.

Holly sends her greatest love to you all, and is thankful for the encouraging words, calls and support from everyone.

Thank you

Hi everyone, here's a new update on Holly's condition. Since her diagnosis, the treatment to lower her white blood cells has worked wonderfully. She's gained some weight back and feels and looks much better. However, the medication has lowered the platelets and white bloods cell too much which has forced her off treatment until they can come back to an acceptable level. This means many visits a month are needed to check on blood levels. Her long term goal is to find a medication that will work and this could take some time. Thank you to all who have donated and have sent prayers.

Thank you so much for all your support! Here is an UPDATE on Holly's health. After visiting the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, she has learned that her Leukemia is very rare but maintainable with weekly blood draws and medicine. Right now the medicine is dropping her platelet counts too low so she has had to stop chemo. Once her platelets have come up she will resume her medication. If this medicine does not stabilize her blood, she will have to try another. We hope and pray that this or the other 3 medicines will work to even things out. As many trips to the New England Cancer Center are made every other day or weekly, funds are still needed to help with the cost of rising bills. Holly and her family are so much appreciative for all who are thinking of her. Thank you
