I am a Volunteer Firefighter in Polk County, TX and was recently in a Major Motor Vehicle Collision on August 5th involving a young 18 year old driver that hit my 3 Children and I head on just South of Livingston, TX. The collision resulted in serious injuries to my 2 year old Son James and Myself, James before the wreck was the typical 2 year old always excited and full of life. The crash sent him to Hermann Hospital in the Texas Medical Center in Critical Condition via PHI Air Medical Helicopter, the results were those that no parent wants to hear, he had broken both his neck and back, fractured his skull with bleeding on the brain and broke is left eye socket with a cut in his left eye lid. He spent nearly a week laying in bed and not being able to move in the Hermann Children's Hospital ICU and IMU before being transferred to Shriners Children's Hospital for Rehabilitation where he spent another week as he quickly recovered to the point he was able to return home with Therapy multiple times a week. In the last 2 weeks he has been developing an issue causing seizures and we are trying to get him into a neurologist so we can try to pinpoint the cause. I broke my back, nose, eye socket and several other facial bones that require surgery but am unable to have surgery because I have no health insurance. The vehicle that we were driving when we had the wreck was our only vehicle and neither insurance company was willing to give me a rental so I started this Gofundme and was able to purchase a used car with the assistance of a family that offered to allow us to make payments on a vehicle which was paid off yesterday 9/19/17. However we are still needing funds to help with gas, parking and other costs to go back and forth to Dr.s appt.s in Houston a 150 mile round trip from our home. Also I have to figure out how to afford a set of tires for the vehicle and to get the vehicle transferred into my name.
