Butterfly Forests Homestead

Hi! We're Daniel and Iris Rosensweig. We're creating the Butterfly Forests Homestead and RoseTwig Music, in Mangonui, New Zealand. We're living near Boston now, and we need your help to raise $80,000 in the next 2 months, and make our dream a reality.

Butterfly Forests Homestead will be a sustainable cob/adobe home with a permaculture and forest garden. We'll keep silkie chickens and quails (for eggs), and angora goats (for milk, cheeses, yogurt, and mohair yarns. Our farm animals will be treated humanely and with tender, loving care. All edible and non-edible products will be 100% organic, handmade, and made with a deep-rooted connection to and balance with nature.

We'll also maintain a small bed and breakfast, with organic country-style breakfast, and pure Vermont maple syrup. We work with nature, not against it, and will maintain a zero carbon footprint.

Organic products and goods will include:

Herbal teas, herbal tinctures, herbal salves, herb-infused oils, herbal cough syrups and cough drops, aromatherapy sleep pillows, silkie chicken and quail eggs, goat milk, yogurt, herbed cream cheeses and soft goat cheeses. Homemade baked breads, pies, and cakes. Raw pies and and raw cookies/candies. Meditation candles, herbal shampoos and conditioners, herbal incense, and raw honey. Handmade paintings and pottery.

RoseTwig Music will be an intimate performance hall, made of cob, with space for 40-50 guests. We'll invite New Zealand and visiting musicians to play, or run small classes. We'll display artwork and sculptures from local artists, which guests will also be able to purchase after a concert. Daniel will teach voice lessons, and possibly other small music classes. It will be a gathering space for the community, which people can also rent for their own events.

Doing our part to make the world a better place, for the environment as well as the community, has always been very important to us. This project provides us an opportunity to give back to the world, everyone we care about and meet.
