Help Me Help South African Women

Go Fund Me Statement – June 2016

For years I’ve had this strong intuition that I would be going to Africa to help the women there.  It’s been on the backburner, as I didn’t know how it would show up.

It showed up on March 11th, 2016, when I was invited to share my work over live stream.  Over the last 30 years, as a therapist, speaker, author and workshop leader, I have helped thousands of women heal from sexual and physical abuse and into a life of self-love and empowerment. When women have lived through this type of abuse, they carry shame and low self-esteem and it becomes generational.  These traumatic experiences sit on top of their light. When toxic history is released, women become unstuck and can move into their futures with confidence.

A week after my program aired, I received a surprise email. An English woman from South Africa had seen my talk online and asked if I would work with a group of South African women who have started a trade school for women.  The purpose of the school, named “Beyond Beautiful”, is to assist the women in becoming economically viable.

Since that time, I have been working with these women via Skype.  I have done this gratis, and my role has expanded so much that they have asked me to come to Africa to teach not only this group, but also offer workshops to their students and the community at large.

My role, as defined thus far, is this:

1.  To coach the leadership of the school into owning their power.

2.  To teach them to facilitate their students in finding their own voice and power.

3.  To assist in developing curriculum.

4.  To do expressive therapies to heal the stories of abuse and trauma so that the participants may realize all their potential.

The funds will be used to:

1)  Provide scholarships

2)  Purchase equipment for the students learning the various trades taught.

3)  Help fund their program in English as a 2nd language, as it is the business language of South Africa

4)  Teach additional skills necessary to run their businesses (math, bookkeeping, etc.)

5)  Pay for two trips, 6 months apart where I will stay for 3 weeks each time to run empowerment workshops for the school as well as their community and do follow-up.  The overriding philosophy of the school is that each one of us has a light that needs to shine bright, allowing us to use all of our gifts and talents.

The money for the school projects is needed immediately and the trip is planned for November.

I am beyond honored and grateful to take this healing work to the women of Africa, where it is so desperately needed.  This is a culmination of my life’s work and I am so deeply appreciative of your help.
