Tom's 2500km Cycle - WW1 Memorial

Donation protected
Kilkenny man Tom Kennedy is cycling the 2,500km long Wild Atlantic Way to raise funds towards the building of a permanent memorial to honour those from Kilkenny who lost their lives in World War 1.

Starting from Kinsale on July 8th Tom, who is blind, will be accompanied on his “bicycle made for two” by a succession of friends who will each take a turn in the pilot seat during his epic journey. He will hug the full length of the Western coast  and finish the ride very appropriately on the Peace Bridge in Derry. You can follow his journey on the Kilkenny Great War Memorial Facebook page. The journey will take approx. 3 weeks at 120km per day.

Please help Tom on his journey by donating the cost of a letter or few on the Memorial. Each carved letter costs €1 and there will be just over 800 names in total. There will be just over 800 names on the Memorial – each carved letter costs €1. Tom and his friends are covering all of their own costs so all monies donated go directly to the Memorial fund.

Over 3000 people from Kilkenny served in WW1. A list of those who died is available on www.kilkennygreatwarmemorial.com.
