End Rape on Campus Australia

Donation protected

In the five years to 2016, 575 students across Australia have reported experiencing sexual misconduct to their university. Out of all of these, only 6 cases saw the perpetrators expelled. No one can be expected to effectively learn in an abusive or violent environment.

End Rape On Campus Australia's latest piece of work, The Red Zone, details 200 pages worth of toxic, misogynistic hazing and behavioural patterns that support and facilitate environments where 1 in 5 female students are sexually assaulted. The report, which was labelled "sickening" and "nothing short of harrowing",  was reported on by media around the world, with the foreword's author, Professor Catharine Lumby stating: “[The] unveiling the truth of what lies behind college and residential walls has fallen to a group of brilliant and research led young women who make up the advocacy group End Rape on Campus Australia…. Yet I am also appalled that so much of the heavy lifting continues to be done by young women- who are at risk of, or who have actually experienced sexual assault – and in many cases their labour, skill and expertise continues to go unpaid."

In the three days after the intial release of The Red Zone report, we had over 100 disclosures of similar abuse from college students across the country. This number speaks to the volume of students who need our help. In order to continue our work and provide the best services we can to survivors and their communities, we need your help.

Your donation will:
- assist us to become a registered organisation (a process that can be expensive and time consuming),
- power our joint campaign with Fair Agenda, the National Union of Students and The Hunting Ground Australia project for an independent, expert-led taskforce to hold universities and residences to account,
- help us to research and write additional reports about sexual violence, harassment and hazing within Australian university communities, and
- ensure that we can keep building pressure on universities, residences, and governments to do all that they can to  address and prevent sexual violence and hazing within university communities.

Ultimately, your support would mean that we can focus on what we do best - supporting survivors and advocating for systemic change.
