My name is Kyle West, and this year I had a political awakening; I’ve always been interested in politics, but it wasn’t until Bernie Sanders began his political revolution that I could no longer sit on the sidelines as a mere voter. The Sander’s delegation to Philly is the next crucial stage of this political revolution. Our delegation will vote for a more progressive Party platform, and it is important that we help send Bernie delegates who are dedicated to shaping the Democratic platform in ways that represent us - the people, not super-PACs and corporations.
My wife, Maria Kupper, and I hosted phone banks out of our house in the Louisville since February, I then volunteered to help canvass for Bill Noelker during the special elections, and I’ve also had the pleasure of going on two “Bernie Journeys” - the first to canvass in Nashville, and then again to canvass in Cincinnati.
Our Party cannot ignore, or disenfranchise, the progressive movement that Senator Sanders has built; without the passion of his supporters, we cannot hope to defeat Donald Trump; without the millions of young, millennial voters who – like myself – have felt inspired to donate their time and their money to his campaign, we cannot hope to defend our tenuous hold in the Commonwealth, nor can we hope to defeat the GOP. Our Party needs to be united, and we must find the common ground together – as the alternative is too terrifying to contemplate.
My wife and I will not only be travelling up to Philadelphia in a "Bernie Convoy," but we will also be sharing a room with other Sanders delegates in order to cut down on costs; however, the attending the National Convention is quite expensive which is why I am asking for donations to help cover the cost of travel and the hotel in Philadelphia.

It is an honor to represent you and the 3rd Congressional District of Kentucky at the National Convention in Philadelphia, and it has been my singular pleasure to – as Gandhi once said – “be the change we wish to see in the world.”
