Relief for Fidencio the paleta man
As I was driving down 26th st in the Little Village area in Chicago where I was born and raised. I saw this elderly man struggling to push is paleta cart (Popsicle cart). It broke my heart seeing this man that should be enjoying retirement still working at this age. I had to pull over and took this picture. I then bought 20 paletas and gave him a $50 and said may God bless him and drove away. I posted this picture on Fb and since then, I've gotten a huge response. That's when Joe Loera came up with a great idea to start this campaign. Mr. Fedencio Sanchez and his wife recently lost their only daughter and are still heartbroken about the situation. His elderly wife was selling paletas also to help pay bills, but she fell ill and can't work anymore. We're trying to raise money to help him with whatever we can. Anything helps. Let's all pitch in and help make life a little easier and brighten both of their day.

When your questioning if he is getting the money, I don't think you should donate. Because when you give without questioning is because you are giving from the HEART. Just a Thought!!!
I was born in the little Village but moved out of Chicago when I was about 2yrs old, last yr me and my family went to visit Chicago and Little Village was a must stop place. While we were eating in a restaurant right next to the little village arch me and my family were sitting all the way back to the restaurant; I see this old man walk into the restaurant and try to buy food but didnt have enough money, by the time our server came to check on our table and I had ask why the elder man hadnt bought any food and she had told me he didnt had enough money I went outside but couldnt see him anywhere, I told the server to put 2 of the most full and best meals they usually would serve in that restaurant since she had told me he had an older sick wife at home thats why I order 2 meals. Me and my family went up and down Little Village street and couldnt find him, when I was about to give up we saw him standing on a corner selling his paletas, I couldnt help but to cry seeing this man working at this age and just to think there is so many people young and healthy asking for money at the side of the highways, I couldnt get out of the car to bring the food we had bought for him and his wife I just couldnt stop crying, my husband got off the car and brought him the food and he also gave him some money. He was so thankful and insisted to take some popsicles as gratitude but we just didnt. He blesses us and his face was just so thankfull I couldnt help but just to keep crying of how something like a meal and a few dollars made such a difference to a person like him. Ever since I have not returned ro Chicago but if I do I plan to look for him and bring him or take him and his wife out for some food... To the person that started this all I can tell you is that God will bless you always, I hope that you continue doing campains for people who mostly need it like Mr. Fidencio. XOXO
To those of you wondering about the funds. Joel is going down to meet with Fidencio and his wife as we speak. We will keep this Gofundme page up for 1 week. After that we will be giving the money to them. All of this will be on video, everything will be transparent and documented. We cannot express in words the gratitude and love we have for all of you. None of us know each other, but we all came together to help someone we all felt needed it. This is a true example of people showing love for one another and how we can together accomplish something beautiful and greater than ourselvs. Much Love to you all ♥
You should really use some of the money to see a GOOD elder care lawyer and set up a trust because they might be on Medicaid and other programs and this amount of money can be a curse, plus they have to pay gift taxes. It's a great thing to do but it might have some negative consequences that you are unable to foresee.
Can someone please help Fidencio and his wife get a good Elder Care Lawyer so that they can set up a trust... This will be important just in case they are on Medicaid or any other gov't program that might be affected by the amount raised by this campaign. It's definitely a blessing, but it could be a problem for them in regards to taxes, among other things. Also, it would be great because it could avoid them from getting scammed or harmed by shady people who just want their money. Thanks guys!

We have raised over $18000 at this posting, a handful of $100 donations but the majority are ranging from $5 & up, everyone is pitching in a little and it is adding up. This is what we call community ...

Going through the comments I read that someone was aware of him being robbed before, since this has gone so public there are also not so kind ppl who can see this so please keep us updated & if you can make sure he is accompanied when he is cashing his money. Joel, this gesture that you are doing for this couple in need is just awesome. Ppl on here don't know you. But I do and I know that you are a very nice human being with a good heart and is always ready to help a brother or sister in need. That is why God blesses you in all you do. I personally think that when any money or items are given to the family ppl need to be careful because some ppl are really out to get you and it's not safe for the elderly couple. I agree with the person who posted below to check into how he will receive these funds in case he has Medicaid or other government assisted programs. When you are in these programs they closely monitor how much money you have and if they find out he has this much, they could stop all the assistance he receives (including his checks)and even make him pay back money that was used previously for medical bills. So it could be a curse. Recommend someone helps him seek a financial advisor.
