I met Bernie in the summer of 2014 in Philadelphia's gayborhood at local union 1199c . After receiving a call from a dear friend, I drove like a mad woman from the next county over down 95 South to get back to Philly to meet him. I was working on a congressional race and I needed some inspiration, plus I wanted so badly to meet the gentleman from Vermont. He gave me more than inspiration that evening, he gave me hope for America's future. After he declared his presidency, I began to organize the summer of 2015 here in Philly and was hired to run the West/ South Philly office during the primaries. What an honor it was to speak at a rally held at Drexel University with the Senator. During the campaign, I had to take one day off to drive to Maryland to see my father who had fallen and was ill. It was the last time that I saw him alive, he passed away shortly after the election. I found out that I had been elected to be a delegate on June 1st after leaving the military burial ceremony at our local Veteran's Cemetery. The news humbled me and brought joy to my heart on such a somber day. Just as my father was, I too am a veteran of the United States Army, we swore in to make the ultimate sacrifice if necessary. The freedoms that were promised are being taken away before our very eyes. Bernie has stood on solid ground, he has stood firm and he continues to stand up for millions whose voices go unheard. I pledge to stand firm and represent Bernie's candidacy. In order for me to fulfill my obligation at the 2016 DNC as a PA delegate, I am tasked with fundraising the asked amount before July 23rd. I thank you all for your support and I am truly humbled by your willingness stand on the right side of history.
