Tom's Cancer Battle

In March of 2016, Tom was diagnosed with Small Cell Lung Cancer. By the time they discovered it, it was in an extended stage. He has tumors in both lungs, on his pulmonary artery, his trachea and esophagus. Tom is currently undergoing chemotherapy. He just completed the fourth round today. The third round really kicked his butt! The chemo is platinum based leaving him with a constant metal taste in his mouth. He can't eat much because everything tastes like metal to him. His nausea is out of control even with the meds. He moans in his sleep but says he's not in pain. He cries in his sleep now. He hums in his sleep. Tom is the love of my life. We've been together for 23 years having met up at our 25 year high school reunion in 1993. His first wife had passed of breast cancer and he was raising his 10 year old daughter. They came to California where we built our lives together. I can't imagine losing Tom. He's a really great guy and has so much to live for!!
Just one month before his diagnosis he was given a clean bill of health after having a cold then pneumonia, two rounds of antibiotics...His cough never stopped and finally he started coughing up blood clots. We knew something bad was happening. The worst part is that they say that by the time this type of cancer is discovered, it's too late.
