Hi there, we are Emily and James, we are both 14 years old and we are competitive ice dancers. We are the current British Champions and ranked number 1 in our category winning with the best marks ever recorded. We achieved this after only 4 months of skating together, an unknown feat in the skating world.
At the start of February we embarked on our first international competition together, competing in Oberstdorf, Southern Germany. We placed 4th out of 15 against incredibly strong competitors from Russia, America and other European countries. As evident, we are constantly spending more money on costumes, air fares, hotels and coaching so we can rival the best of skaters from around the World.
We are dedicated to our sport, as we are now up 5 times a week at 4 am to train before school, while we keep our school work also under control, James attends Dr Challoner’s Grammar school in Amersham and Emily goes to Luckley house in Wokingham. Emily’s family have relocated from Preston to Wokingham enabling us to train more often. Our parents can just about manage the weekly coaching costs but we will be entering 6-7 international competitions and training camps per year. We have to pay for all our coach’s travel and accommodation fees as well as our own. These costs per international visit can cost well over £1000. Costumes also are a large factor, in the region of £500 - £900 and two costumes per person are needed every season.
The money raised by you, would enable us to travel further across the continent to receive World Class tuition. This money would be the step we really need to ensure our short term and long term goals are achieved. Every pound you donate would help us become closer to our goal for this year, to go to the Junior World Championships in Taipei city, China. We desperately need some funds soon so we can plan for the upcoming months when everything counts.
