SPIRIT's Medical Treatment Plan

This is Spirit, and she is a pure bred Siberian Husky. Spirit has been a part of our family since she was 6 weeks old. She is curently 5 1/2 years old, and has alot left to give. She is playful, loveable, friendly, and has the best disposition with other animals and kids of all ages. She is so amazing and loved by our family. She loves outdoors but unfortunately having her outside came at a price with pesky mesquitoes. She has now contracted heartworms which drastically can end her life without immediate treatment and constant maintenance. We had waited after the first visit as it was explained whether we treat and give her quanity in years of continued living or quality of life until her untimely death. Our family is on a fixed income, and in need of help from as many animal lovers we can find to make sure we can sustain her treatment. We have started her treatment and she has to continue this course for the next four months, to minimize the risk of blood clots which would immediately kill her. These are caused when the heartworms deteriorate and dissolve in her bloodstream. Her treatment is being conducted by the best vets in the Southeast at Bailey Small Animal Hospital at Auburn University School of Veterinary Medicine. We are asking that any donation to help her would be appreciated and Spirit will continue to live a wonderful life, with the energy and drive she always use to have. The doctor has said she is one of the best dogs he has ever had the pleasure of treating, which says much about her care plan and those treating her.
