It is with a heavy heart I open this page, but I need help! First diagnosed with edema (water under the skin) in my feet and ankles eventually spread to my lower abdomen. The pressure of the water was so extreme that I developed ulcers in my lower legs that would break open and weep. The painful swelling, itching and stiffness in my legs along with the weight gain make walking difficult. Since edema is a symptom of an underlying problem, tests were done all with negative results. I have recently had unexplained upper body weight loss but the swelling is still in my legs. Unable to diagnose the cause, my doctor has asked me to get a second opinion.
As a hair stylist/make up artist I have learned to work from a stool, but being self-employed I have no sick days or enough insurance to cover medical expenses. Funds raised will be used for balances due on medical tests already done and for the second opinion medical testing and related expenses. My goal is to go to Mayo Clinic and find the reason for this debilitating problem so I can have a knee and hip replacement I so badly need.
