Nashville TN – June 28, 2016 Inspirational Life Making A Difference (ILMAD), located at 1900 Church Street, Suite 300, Nashville, TN 37207 has started a GoFundMe account for future growth of programs to help and make a difference within the Nashville TN Community. Shellia Kirkendoll-Cooper is the founder of Making A Difference. The group has a core purpose within the Coaching Center to Build Up Strong Girls. The Coaching Center is known as, Inspirational Life Coaching. Inspirational Life Making A Difference is a gender specific, prevention education program for girls in grade 3rd through 12th designed to inspire and promote self-love, self-esteem, motivation, develop life skills, healthy coping skills, and decision making skills. ILMAD is keeping girl who are at risk out of the influence of gangs, drugs and sex trafficking.
For the past two years Shellia Kirkendoll-Cooper has funded the project with her personal funds. The mission at ILMAD is to inspire all girls to be strong, smart, and bold through innovative programs, activities, and advocacy. The group strives to empower all girls to realize and set obtainable goals by teaching and demonstrating positive lifestyle changes, through great work ethics, and a variety of other skills in order that all girls realize their potential and exercise their full rights.
Inspirational Life Making A Difference is committed to inspire pro-social friendships, strong interpersonal skills, and instill a sense of hope in the future for girls. With a commitment to encouraging young women to be aware of life possibilities, Inspirational Life Making A Difference works diligently to dramatically influence girls through a support system in a caring, and inclusive learning environment.
Inspirational Life Making A Difference need the funds for a building, computers, and more. Without assistance, many young girls will be lost. Inspirational Life Making A Difference has so far been able to make a difference in the life of disadvantage girls, guiding young women through the difficult issues that hinder their personal growth. ILMAD recognizes that young girls rarely find a space to express their concerns and find guidance through emotionally complex situations. Inspirational Life Making A Difference has been able to offer the direction they need to flourish.
The short term plan is to form partnerships with local schools, churches and the juvenile court system along with incorporating counseling techniques in a vast array of programs that target youth development. Inspirational Life Making A Difference will focus primarily on middle school girls. It is projected that within three years, 50% of the system's students will be in middle school. This age group is particularly problematic and in need for effective mentoring.
The anti-bullying program targets the specific needs of adolescents by tackling the issue from within the school system. Inspirational Life Making A Difference can directly transform learning environments and create safe spaces for children. The goal of the program is working with girls at the ages of adolescence is to help them develop self-esteem, life motivations so that they are equipped with the tools to help them achieve their goals and avoid getting into trouble as they physically and developmentally mature, especially before and as they are entering their teenage years and high school. Specifically addressing the needs of girls in this age range fills a need for prevention, youth empowerment in Nashville, as many existing programs target only teens or girls already in the juvenile justice system. The focus is slightly different at each level but the goal remains the same; empowering the young person to make positive changes in their life.
