Baby Hayden Medical Expenses

Donation protected
Baby Hayden is my niece -- a new daughter to my little brother Laramie and his wife Heather.  Hayden was born on April 17, 2016, weighing in at a tiny 2 pounds 4 ounces.  She arrived two months early after Heather's high blood pressure started to strain her own organs and eventually the doctors ordered an emergency c-section.  Although Hayden was born in the Quad Cities, she was immediately taken to Peoria's neonatal intensive care unit where she remains today (2 months after birth).

Hayden and her family have had a rollercoaster ride during her life.  Although everything looked pretty good given her tiny weight and the fact that she was born so early, she has always had bowel issues.  The doctors have tried every combination of Heather's breast milk, supplements, etc. trying to find something that Hayden can digest but each time milk is introduced to Hayden, she does well for about 3 days, Heather and Laramie get their hopes up that they might get to take their new baby home, and then her intestines stop working.  When this happens, Hayden is left with a tummy that is bloated and as hard as a rock and the doctors have to suck any remaining milk out of her tummy.  It is extremely painful.  Then Hayden is not allowed to eat for at least 3 days while her bowels are allowed to "rest."  During this "rest" time Hayden feels as though she is starving and if she is awake she is crying.  It is so difficult for Laramie and Heather as they want to feed her but all they can do is try to comfort her by holding her.

Today (June 15, 2016) the doctors are going to perform a biopsy on little Hayden's bowels to see if her intestines have nerve endings or if part of her intestines did not form nerve endings.

Laramie and Heather live outside of Aledo, Illinois. Because Peoria is about 1.5 hours from their home, Heather has been keeping vigil at the hospital almost every day and staying at a local motel so that she can be closeby at night.  Laramie has had to work during the week but also comes down to the hospital every weekend.  Needless to say, the bills are mounting; the cost of gas for Laramie and Heather to travel back and forth, the costs of the motel so that Heather can stay as close to her baby as possible, and the medical bills (both for Hayden and for the week that Heather was in the hospital prior to giving birth) -- these guys could use some help.

If you are able to donate -- even a small amount -- I feel it might help alleviate some of the financial stress during this very difficult time.  Your help will be forever and greatly appreciated!!
