Donation protected

The South Sudanese Senior Men's Bright Star Basketball National Team needs your donation to head to the World Indigenous Basketball Challenge in Vancouver, British Columbia. Please assocate your name with the first ever encouter of South Sudan.

South Sudan gained independence from Sudan on July 09, 2011 as the outcome of a 2005 peace agreement that ended Africa's longest-running civil war. South Sudan Basketball Federation (SSBF) became the newest member of the Federation of International Basketball Associations (FIBA) on November 24th, 2013. Barely, a month later South Sudan was embroiled in yet another destructive conflict that fragmented social fabrics and cohesion. The war has just ended with Agreement on Conflict Resolution in South Sudan (ACRISS) 2015.

Due to instability, SSBF could not mobilize resources to help South Sudan engaged in international and zonal games. However, in SSBF, we remained united in our cultural diversities and a family of Basketball. We kept going while guided by our noble goal to Build Basketball Game to Build a Nation united in diversity. Our players, referees, coaches and supporters come from all walks of life, gender, and cultures. SSBF is a gregistered non-profit sports associations No. 1588 with Ministry of Justice in Republic of South Sudan. SSBF operates its bank account with Ivory Bank in Juba Branch.

South Sudan is home of legendary Monute Bol and NBA star, Luol Deng. With your donation, South Sudan could become a basketball powerhouse in the world sports map. Despite the lack of infrasture and policies to promote basketball in the past, currently, South Sudan ranks amongst top list of foreign nations with considerable high number of basketball players in U.S. High Schools and U.S. College Basketball Leagues. In Australia there is an excellent South Sudanese Basketball League with huge potiential. In Spain we have already South Sudan in the Spanish Basketball League. SSBF has fraternal and cordial relationship with NBA without Borders that has so far allowed U17 boys from South Sudan to participate. Already, NBA without Borders gave Chol Beny a chance to grow with the game. Basketball could bring hope and efficacy to children and all generations of South Sudan.

We aim to explore the FIBA new coordinated and coherent baskeball games systems in 2017 where all zonal, international, college, clubs games including NBA, shall be globally unified. The current generations of South Sudanese in Diaspora have shown willingness to bring back positive impact on our children, and youth of South Sudan. Help SSBF mission to make this a dream come true! SSBF mission is to meet the expectations of the baskeball enthusiasm by building basketball game as popular sports in South Sudan united in diveristy and to regulate and govern basketball programs and growth through basketball leagues and all the sporty entities and initiatives.

Join and support the noble goal: Build the Game! Build the Nation!

The United Nations (UN) Taskforce on sports 2003, concurred that: "... sports can cut across barriers that divide societies, making it a powerful tool to support conflict prevention and peace building efforts, both symbolically on global level and very practically within the community..."
