Candidate for Wyoming State Representative House District 22
• Wyoming is moving toward an income tax
• Legislature must get into the details of the department budgets and find excess spending
• There is $50M excess in Education
•• Excessive administration/paperwork
• As a Private citizen I directly impacted Computer Science Curriculum
• In my observation women in Wyoming are not compensated equally
What I will do:
• I will stand firm against a tax increase
•• Get into the budget lines of departments
• Root out excess education administration
•• Excess paper pushed onto classrooms
• I will stand firmly for women in the Equality State
The Legislature in the 2018 Budget Session funded state spending from savings dollars. Some $922M will come out of savings. I saw little attempt to get into the details of the state's departments and seek excesses to cut. Frankly we are headed for an income tax unless the Legislature figures out how to extend the life of our state's savings funds.
I see education as having too much administration (with attendant costs). There is just a lot of paper put onto the classrooms. I have identified about $50M that might be saved if the legislature got into the details.
Along the way this past year I provided the initial thinking, as a private citizen, to a fundamental restructuring of Wyoming's computer science education system. This began with the June (2017) Interim Education Committee meeting in Casper. This provided the foundation for a proposal by the Wy Dept of Edcation (September 2017) and then legislation (SF-29) in the 2018 Session. Governor Mead signed legislation implementing that in early March 2018.
I believe women in Wyoming are not paid equally as men. I've observed my wife in the education system and feel she was just plain poorly treated.
