Fundraiser for Jimmy Gembicki

As many of you know, Jimmy has been fighting stage 4 lung cancer for nearly 4 years and he’s been kicking its ass! Recently he had to undergo surgery to have a non-cancerous tumor (radiation necrosis) removed from his brain. Shortly after the surgery Jimmy contracted a staph infection which caused severe swelling. He underwent a second surgery to clean out the infection and reduce the swelling. During recovery Jimmy had multiple seizures which caused a stroke and neurological damage. At this time, he has limited movement throughout his body. Lorie and Jimmy’s family have been by his side since he was admitted into the hospital. Mom-mom Sheila and Aunt Geneva have been taking care of Ella along with other family members and friends.

There is no time frame to how long Jimmy will be in the hospital, but his hospital stay will be followed by a rehabilitation center. He has been out of work for over 3 weeks and is only bringing home a partial paycheck. Lorie is now only working a few hours a week so she can be with Jimmy each day and help with his recovery. Their insurance covers a portion of their medical expenses (after paying the deductible) but now with limited income, they are faced with paying their “life” expenses.

As a community of family, friends and colleagues most of us have been asking “how can we help?” As a community, we can help by giving. Please give whatever you can to help during these trying times. If you can only give a little now, that’s great. If you want to give more next month, even better. Whatever you give is greatly appreciated!
