Back to School Giveaway

My name is Chavon Hamilton, founder of the Hartford Health Intiative Inc. The purpose of my organization is to encourage better health outcomes for the residents living in the Northend of Hartford, CT by addressing social issues that influence poor health choices. One of the social determinants is low educational attainment. This fall I will a host the organization's first Back to School event where we will provide backpacks and school supplies to 100 youth ages 6-14 living in the  Northend. We have received a gracious donation of 100 backpacks from JanSport, so the money raised during this campaign will be used to buy school supplies to fill the bags.  I am asking that all donations be submitted by July 4, 2016.
As an individual born and raised in the Hartford, I understand the struggles and pressures that could influence youth to take an alternate route in life and not value education. As a person that has been able to excel in spite of circumstances, it has been my dream to give back to the youth of my city. So I thank you for reading my story and contributing to a very important cause.
