All I want is to be heard...
Imagine someone else telling your story, stating how you feel, what you've been through,...trying to convey to a room of strangers WHO you are.
Wouldn't you ache to be there, to use your words, be seen, be felt, expose yourself eye to eye with your own perception of your OWN truth in mind?
That is what my heart aches to do. Share myself with those who will listen, in a way that is no less than authentic, and pure. Therefore, I must go.
My debut album, PRIDE, has found much success overseas, particularly in the UK. The level of appreciation for the live music experience there, has inspired me to no end. I have made life-long friends in my visits there, as well as all over Europe!!
I've been able to experience tour life on 5 tours, and in more than 17 countries with the brilliant Jarrod Lawson, and nothing is more amazing. No price can be put on the experience I've gained or the wealth of memories I've made.
The downside to this is the immense amount of investment that goes into simply arriving in the cities where we play this music. It often leaves independent musicians largely in debt, and essentially performing for free, all in an effort...to be heard. It's a vicious cycle investing tens of thousands of dollars in flights, accomodations, costs and incidentals related to day to day living, and paying musicians, all before we ever earn a dime at a show. This is a struggle that endures as long as we hold tight to our creative freedom and avoid signing it away to major corporations who often dangle this kind of money as bait. I wholeheartedly would like to remain as independent as possible of that machine! We love this crazy musician life, and I'm not afraid to ask for help to make it happen!
For this single mama attempting to craft a career out of "this music thing", the simple truth is, no matter how hard I work, investment money is non existent. This is why, I need your help!
I have gigs scheduled June 28th, June 29th, and July 15th in the greater London area! This is a priceless opportunity, but a very pricey endeavor!
I need your help! I hope to raise this money by June 1, 2016.
Funds donated to this campaign will be used, and ONLY used to:
~Purchase flights to the UK for my 3 band members
~Offer a per diem for each of the band members to survive on during our stay
~To pay the musicians appropriately for the gigs and rehearsal time
I like to think of my craft as a communal project, for healing, connection, growth, acceptance, and a vehicle by which to relate to others in vulnerable spaces. It, by no means, is the responsibility of the community to foster my dreams, I only hope that the exchange remain pure, and I can continue to, with little strife, create music I can be proud of, and share it with you all in return. The best way to do this is LIVE and in person!
