Alexa Tennant's Brain Surgery

Alexa is 16 years old, she’s kind, funny, smart, and LOVES to DANCE. She dances on Hudson High School Raidaires Dance Team and competitively for Helmer Dance Studio in Hudson, WI. Until recently, life was pretty amazing.  She spent her days at school or with family, friends, and her boyfriend, Devon. Unfortunately, in the past 6 months, Alexa has struggled with debilitating headaches, severe dizziness, and blurry vision. On March 18, 2016, Alexa and her family received news that her MRI showed a Colloid Cyst, a rare, slow growing tumor in the third ventricle of her brain. After months of consultation with neurosurgeons and increasing symptoms, Alexa is scheduled for brain surgery on June 8, 2016 at Children’s Hospital in St. Paul. 

This news is devastating, but it is not the only hardship for the Tennant family. In 2011, Alexa’s dad, Steve suffered a traumatic brain injury from a work accident.   He is unable to work or drive and is on permanent disability. Alexa’s mom, Andrea is self-employed as a hairstylist and has recently been diagnosed with multiple lesions on her brain. Andrea will need to take time off for follow up medical appointments as well as to help Alexa recover from surgery. Many of you know the Tennant family through church, school, dance, Andrea’s salon, and community activities. Let’s show them our love and support during this difficult time.
